Throughout Art 3, I've learned how to make a sculpture portrait, the ways of oil painting, and about abstract painting. I've seen the greatest growth in my oil paintings. When I first started oil painting, I followed a Bob Ross tutorial, and it didn't look that great. I didn't touch oil paints for a few years after that. I did it again a few other times and it was better, but when I learned how to paint with oils in class, it was a much better experience. There were a lot more realistic elements as well after I truly learned about oil paints. I think I need to improve my sculpture the most. Trying to make the subject look realistic and proportional was very difficult for me to do, especially when it came to adding extra details without messing it up. I can use what I've learned so far and further build off of that. In my future still life paintings, I might try to start with grisaille underpaintings again and attempt to add all the details to the underpainting and not with the color. For sculptures, I could focus on the basic shape of the subject and work my way into details. In relation to gesture drawings, I will use that for abstract painting if I want to create another one. I will likely apply any oil painting techniques to paintings in the near future, regardless of if I'm using oil or not.
